Programm

The New Town Cultural and Sports Summer brings a series of family picnics at various locations in the Bratislava-New Town district. One of them will be the Picnic at Račka.

Moderated by Martin Michael Benčič.

Programme:

15:00, NevaDivadlo: Who’s Afraid Must Not Go to the Forest, 45 min.

A doctor visits a dense dark forest full of magic and enchantment. Why? To cure the ghosts. Even those who are afraid of him. It is his job to help everyone, no matter what. The audience will see that ghosts do not fit into the modern world at all and that the doctor need not be afraid of anyone, not even the most terrifying magician Magiáš, in a cheerful and funny puppet production based on the fairy tale by Karel Čapek.

16:00, B-Swing: The Dance Hall, 60 min.

Swing evolved alongside the swing music of the 1920s-1940s. Most swing dances have their roots in African-American communities, and some emerged from other cultural traditions. B-Swing Dance School, is an ever-expanding community of people who share a love for the art of swing era dancing and the joy of dancing. Since 2014, they have been organizing various dance classes, workshops, lectures, dance workshops and public events, which radiate a friendly, almost family atmosphere of the old days.

17:00, La Jana & Her Cats, 60 min.

Singer La Jana specializes in interpreting the old jazz of the 1920s and 1950s. She is a jazz singer from the 1950s and ’60s. With La Jana & Her Cats, she performs swing music, gypsy jazz and modern pop hits arranged in a retro swing style.
